About Nurtured Growth
Occupational Therapy in Ipswich

taryn with kid

Hi! I’m Taryn

a passionate paediatric occupational therapist with over 10 years’ experience helping children aged 0–8 thrive. I started Nurtured Growth Therapy because I’ve seen what happens when families feel lost in the maze of milestones and diagnoses.

Parents often find themselves scrolling late at night, searching for answers – and children can feel overwhelmed trying to make sense of everything. My role is to guide them gently as they grow.

I wanted something different; a place where families could feel heard, where support feels personal, and every child is seen as a whole human, not a checklist.

My background includes Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy, plus extra training in child development, sensory processing, early intervention, and school readiness support. I’ve worked across South Africa and Australia — from NICUs to schools to paediatric clinics — and am now a children’s occupational therapist in Ipswich.

At the heart of my work is a passion for helping children discover their spark and blossom, while supporting parents to feel they’re not carrying it all alone.

Why I Do Things Differently

I wanted to create something that felt more personal, more flexible, and more human. Tailored therapy that meets your child where they are — and happens where they feel safest: in their home, early learning centre, or community.

With a focus on sensory, emotional, and motor development, I use an eclectic, whole-child approach that draws from the following frameworks:

  • Sensory Integration

  • Neurodevelopmental Treatment

  • DIRFloortime®

  • Trauma-informed practices

  • Mental health-informed frameworks

  • Play-based, neurodiversity-affirming models

Therapy is shaped by your child’s unique needs — and always delivered with warmth, curiosity, and care.

Choosing the right therapist can feel overwhelming — but here’s what sets Nurtured Growth Therapy apart:

  • Mobile and flexible — I come to you, in the comfort of your child’s own environment

  • Early childhood focus — specialising in ages 0–8, with developmentally attuned support

  • Whole-child approach — blending OT frameworks to support sensory, emotional, motor, and social growth

  • Relational and personal — consistent care from one therapist who truly gets to know your child

  • Parent-partnered — you’re part of the process, not just an observer

  • Local and heart-led — based in Ipswich, supporting the community with care that goes beyond checklists

If you’re looking for OT that’s gentle, grounded, and growth-focused, you’re in the right place.

Beyond the Therapy Room

When I’m not working with children, you’ll find me outdoors exploring, road-tripping around Australia, or soaking up time with family and friends. These moments refuel me so I can give my best to the families I support.

What You Can Expect

I believe that children grow best when they feel safe, seen, and supported. That’s why every session is designed to be playful, calm, and developmentally appropriate — and why therapy happens in the environments where your child learns and lives.

I support children with:
  • Autism, ADHD, and developmental delays

  • Sensory processing and emotional regulation challenges

  • Motor skills, play skills, and everyday independence

Whether we’re on the floor of your lounge room or supporting routines at daycare, I bring practical strategies that fit your life — without jargon or pressure. I also work closely with parents and educators, because I know that real progress happens when we’re all in it together.

For me, this is more than a profession — it’s a privilege.
