Does your child seem to save all of their big emotions for you?

They've managed to get through the school or kindy day.
Their teacher tells you they've had a great day.
Then you pick them up...

Within minutes they're crying, yelling, refusing to get in the car, arguing with their sibling, or melting down over something that seems so small.

By the time you get home, you're walking on eggshells.

Snack becomes a battle.
Dinner feels impossible.
Bedtime stretches on for hours.

And you find yourself wondering:

  • Why is it always worse with me?

  • Why can they cope all day and then completely fall apart at home?

  • Am I making things worse?

  • What am I supposed to do in those moments?

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.
In fact, it's one of the most common concerns I hear from families.

And here's the good news.

When you understand why the after pick-up crash happens, it becomes much easier to know how to respond.

That's exactly what After Pick-Up Reset was created to help you do.

Why does the after Pick-up crash happen?

Many children spend the day using enormous amounts of emotional, sensory and social energy. They're following instructions. Managing friendships. Coping with busy classrooms. Navigating transitions. Meeting expectations. Holding themselves together.

By the time you pick them up, their nervous system may have very little capacity left. Home is often the place where they finally feel safe enough to release everything they've been holding in. That doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. And it doesn't mean your child is choosing to behave this way.

It means their nervous system needs support. This program isn't about stopping emotions or expecting perfect behaviour. It's about helping you understand what's happening beneath your child's behaviour so you know how to support them through it.

Understanding what's happening beneath your child's behaviour changes everything.

Instead of wondering how to stop the behaviour, you'll begin to understand what your child needs in those moments—and how you can support them with confidence.

Hi, i'm Taryn!

I'm a paediatric occupational therapist and the founder of Nurtured Growth Therapy.

Over the years, I've worked alongside many children and families navigating emotional regulation challenges, sensory processing differences and everyday routines that can feel overwhelming.

One pattern appears again and again:
Children who work incredibly hard to cope throughout the day... then completely unravel once they're home with the people they feel safest with.

I've created After Pick-Up Reset to help parents understand what's happening during those challenging after pick-up hours and provide practical, occupational therapy-informed strategies that fit real family life.

Because when parents understand their child's nervous system, they feel more confident.
And children feel more supported.

Imagine if afternoons felt different...

Imagine picking your child up knowing exactly how to support them through those first difficult moments.

Imagine recognising the early signs of overwhelm before everything escalates.

Imagine having a simple after pick-up routine that helps your child recover from a busy day instead of hoping this afternoon might somehow be different.

Imagine responding with confidence instead of second-guessing yourself.

Imagine finishing the day feeling more connected to your child instead of simply trying to get through to bedtime.

Parenting will always have challenging moments. But afternoons don't have to feel like survival.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this program for?

  • Parents of children aged approximately 3–8 years who generally cope well during the day but regularly struggle during the transition home after kindy or school.

  • Many parents also find the strategies helpful during other low-capacity times such as mornings or bedtime.

What if I can't attend the live coaching sessions?

  • Live attendance is encouraged, but recordings will be available if you're unable to join.

What if my child already receives therapy?

  • This program complements occupational therapy and other supports by focusing specifically on helping parents navigate the after-school transition at home.

How much time will I need each week?

  • Each learning module takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete, with a 60-minute live coaching session every fortnight on Monday evenings 7:00-8:00pm AEST during term time.

  • The program is designed for busy families and focuses on practical strategies rather than overwhelming theory.

Is this individual occupational therapy?

  • No, After Pick-Up Reset is an educational parent program. It provides education, coaching and practical guidance but does not replace individual occupational therapy services.

When does the program start?

  • After Pick-Up Reset runs as a small-group cohort during school term. Places are intentionally limited so every family has the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalised support during the live coaching sessions. Once enrolments are open, you'll be able to choose the next available intake.

How much does the program cost?

  • The investment is $497 AUD when paid in full.

  • If you'd prefer to spread the cost, you can choose a 2-payment plan.

  • For families using NDIS funding (where appropriate), payment can be split across 4 instalments to align with your plan and budgeting needs.
